Port of Antwerp Posts Record Yearly Box Volume

The Port of Antwerp in Belgium revealed that its yearly container volume has risen above 10 million TEUs for the first time in the history of the port.
The box volume increased by 4.1% during the past 12 months and the port expects to end the year at around 118 million tons.

Jinhui Shipping Renegotiates Debt on 25 Bulkers

Hong Kong-based shipping company Jinhui Shipping and Transportation Limited has reached an agreement with four major lenders on loans related to 25 of the company’s vessels.

Namely, under the deal the intercreditor deed between the company, 25 subsidiaries as borrowers of relevant vessel mortgage deal and the lenders, only 50% of the instalments due until the end of 2018 will be repaid, while the remaining amount will be repaid within two days after the end of the forbearance period in 2019.

HPH Trust Units to Buy Majority Stake in Huizhou Terminals

Container port business trust Hutchison Port Holdings Trust (HPH Trust) has reached an agreement to purchase a majority stake in Huizhou International Container Terminals Limited (HICT).

Through its subsidiaries, Yantian International Container Terminals (Phase III) Limited (YICT III) and Shenzhen Pingyan Multimodal Company Limited (PML), HPH Trust will acquire 65% and 15% of HITC equity interest, respectively.

Spotted: Turkey Opens First Floating LNG Import Terminal
Turkey’s first floating liquefied natural gas import terminal, ETKI LNG terminal, was inaugurated on December 23 by French energy distribution company ENGIE and the Turkish construction companies Kolin and Kalyon.

Located close to Çakmakli, Izmir, the new facility was developed as a Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) based solution.
