CMA CGM Unaffected by Strikes in Spain, Further Congestion Expected

The productivity at Spanish terminals where CMA CGM vessels are operated is normal, the French liner company said commenting on the impact of the latest strikes of Spanish stevedoring unions.
The unions launched a nation-wide strike on Monday impacting operations across the country’s 39 cargo ports.
The workers are demanding that companies keep their employees and maintain the same working-conditions after the implementation of the port-reform.
In addition, strike from Friday, June 9 starting at 08.00 hrs until Saturday June 10, 2017 at 08.00 hrs is maintained, CMA CGM informed.
The company added that further congestion in terminals is expected as from today.
New round of strikes have also been announced for the upcoming two weeks, starting from June 14th, 0800 hrs till June 16th 0800 hrs. In addition, dockworkers said that they would stop work at odd hours on June 19th, 21st, 23rd, resulting in only 50% of workable time.
Separately, CMA CGM announced the launch of its new service between the East Mediterranean and, Djibouti, Arabian Gulf, Pakistan and India.
Starting on July 2, the service connects CMA CGM hubs in the Mediterranean and the Arabian Gulf.
Rotation will be: Khor Fakkan, Karachi, Nhava Sheva, Mundra, Djibouti, Jeddah, Damietta, Piraeus, Malta, Aliaga, Mersin, Port Said West, Khor Fakkan.
